Part of former Trus Joist Corp. opens in Boise as RedBuilt
Former leaders of Trus Joist Corp. and a Connecticut-based holding company have purchased Trus Joist Commercial division from Weyerhaeuser Co.

The company will be renamed RedBuilt in honor of Harold "Red" Thomas," who was a co-founder of Trus Joist in Boise in 1960.

Weyerhaeuser purchased Trus Joist in 2000.

The new company will locate its headquarters in Boise.

Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

Atlas Holdings out of Connecticut is the majority owner.

The company has about 234 employees. About 32 are in the Treasure Valley.

The company begins in one of the worst slumps in a half century, company officials said. They believe they have purchased the commercial business at the bottom of the market and face a couple of hard years before conditions turn around significantly.

Former Trus Joist leaders involved in the new company are: • Tom Denig, former CEO, is chairman of the board. • Kurt Liebich, who worked for the Trus Joist division of Weyerhauser, is RedBuilt's president and CEO.
