RedBuilt™ engineered wood products secure ICC-ES evaluations

ESR-1774, ESR-2993, and ESR-2994 provide evidence that RedBuilt open-web trusses, LVL, and I-joists meet International Building Code requirements

BOISE, Idaho (Oct. 1, 2009) — RedBuilt™ today announced the company’s engineered wood products received evaluation reports from ICC Evaluation Service, providing evidence they meet code requirements. ICC-ES evaluation reports are now available for RedBuilt Red-L™, Red-W™, Red-S™, Red-M™, and Red-H™ open-web trusses (ESR-1774), as well as RedLam™ laminated veneer lumber (ESR-2993) and Red-I™ joists (ESR-2994).

Building officials, architects, contractors, specifiers, and designers utilize ICC-ES evaluation reports to provide a basis for using building products in construction projects that follow the International Building Code.

“RedBuilt can now reference the evaluation reports to ensure building officials and the building industry that these RedBuilt products meet I-code requirements,” ICC-ES president Mark Johnson explains. “Building departments have a long history of using evaluation reports, and ICC-ES operates as a technical resource for the building department. Final approval of building products is always in the hands of the local regulatory agency.”

RedBuilt executives are excited about the ICC-ES evaluations. “These reports mark a milestone in the development of our full suite of specification tools for the design community and building officials,” says Ted Osterberger, RedBuilt’s vice president of engineering. “ICC-ES thoroughly examined our product information, test reports, calculations, quality-control methods, and other factors to ensure the products are code compliant.”

ICC Evaluation Service is the leading U.S. source for technical information about building products and technologies for code compliance. It is a subsidiary of the International Code Council, an association dedicated to building safety and fire prevention that develops codes used to construct residential and commercial buildings, including homes and schools.
