Our History

1958

The Beginning

Art Troutner and Harold “Red” Thomas meet and collaborate on Troutner’s innovative open-web truss design.

1960

Early Growth

To raise funds, Thomas and Troutner franchise their patented truss technology.

1975

Kibbie Dome

The University of Idaho’s iconic Kibbie Dome was one of RedBuilt’s earliest and most notable Open-Web Truss projects, featuring a distinctive barrel truss profile and a 200 ft. clear span that demonstrated the innovation, strength, and design flexibility of the system.

1990

Leadership Growth

Tom Denig becomes President and CEO of the company originally founded by Thomas and Troutner. Under his leadership, engineered wood products gain widespread acceptance and rapid growth follows.

2000

Acquisition by Weyerhaeuser

Weyerhaeuser acquires the company originally established by Thomas and Troutner.

2009

RedBuilt Launch

Atlas Holdings LLC, along with former industry leaders and senior managers, acquires the commercial division of Trus Joist® from Weyerhaeuser. RedBuilt officially launches in August 2009.

2011

Asset Expansion

RedBuilt purchases select assets of competitor Standard Structures Inc. (SSI).

2014

Introduction of new Prefabricated Wall Panel product line

First wall panel project was delivered to a Fast-Food Restaurant in Kentucky.

2019

10th Anniversary

RedBuilt celebrates its 10 year anniversary.

2020

Part of Mass Timber

RedBuilt enters the Mass Timber Market.

2020–2021

Covid-19

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we remained committed to supporting customers, associates, and partners through unprecedented industry challenges.

2024

Phase 1 Southeast Expansion

RedBuilt establishes local representation in North Carolina and Texas, marking the first phase of its strategic expansion into the Southeast and strengthening support for customers across the region.

2025

Hampton Lumber Acquisition

Hampton Lumber acquires RedBuilt, strengthening the company’s roots in the Pacific Northwest.

2025

Chino, CA Expansion

RedBuilt expands its prefabricated wall panel operations to Chino, California, increasing capacity and strengthening support for customers throughout the Western U.S.

Updating the RedBuilt Why
